The Business of Broom Making with Cynthia Main

Description:  A three hour open workshop and discussion with Cynthia Main of Sunhouse Craft. How do you turn broom making from a craft you love into a part or all of your livelihood?

This three-hour class is an open and practical conversation about the business side of being a broom maker. Drawing from more than a decade of making brooms and building Sunhouse Craft, and longer in the craft and fabrication space, Cynthia will share what she has learned about pricing, wholesale and retail, production, sourcing materials, teaching, marketing, managing growth, and figuring out where to get help, ask questions, and how to make a living at craft.

Come with all the questions: any levels in the craft are welcome.

Instructor: Artist / maker Cynthia Main started Sunhouse Craft as a place to combine her foundation in woodworking and traditional craft with a strong desire to find sustainable and harmonious ways of working. A passionate lover of nature, she devotes much of her work in the business to helping create a more verdant and connected future through sourcing and providing meaningful work. She has been making brooms since 2013, and working as a maker / builder / artist / gardener and farmer for more than two decades.
