Weekend Schedule
It’s time for our favorite weekend of the year! Join us in Berea, Kentucky for a celebration of land connected craft. This year we are celebrating Appalachia with a local lineup of amazing broom makers, sharing some of the joy of craft Kentucky has to offer. Come for a class, the harvest, and enjoy the weekend with us. The farm portion of the event is free, but you must register to attend- read on for more details and don’t hesitate to ask questions!
Saturday
Workshops: 9am-12pm
Bethany, Cynthia and Gary’s classes will be held at our storefront, located at 414 Chestnut Street in Berea Kentucky, 40403. They will be teaching full-sized brooms, intermediate weaving, and hand brooms for the Deaf and hard of hearing, respectively. Register above.
Amanda’s class will be held at Berea College Broom Studio, 101 Chestnut St, Berea, KY 40404.
We’ll carpool out to the farm, located at 5012 Paint Lick Rd, Paint Lick Kentucky 40461 for the afternoon.
Lunch: 12:30pm-1:30pm
Boxed lunches will be catered by Churchill’s in Berea, generously donated by Center for Rural Strategies.
Harvesting: 1pm-4pm
We’ll end the day with harvesting broomcorn at Lazy Eight Stock Farms in Paint Lick! Check the frequently asked questions section below for more information about what to wear and bring.
Sunday, September 20
Workshops: 9am-12pm

Amanda’s classes will be held at Pine Croft School of Woodworking, located at 1866 Big Hill Rd, Berea, KY 40403.
Lunch: 12:30pm
To conclude our weekend, lunch will be held at Honeysuckle Bourbon and Dining House, generously donated by Center for Rural Strategies. Honeysuckle is located in the historic Churchill Weavers building, a perfect ending to our weekend celebrating and preserving craft in Kentucky.

For workshops, we recommend comfortable clothing and shoes you can slip off. I've found that weaving can be easier barefoot.
For the farm, we recommend long pants, long sleeves, a hat, and comfortable close-toed working shoes.
For the farm, bring a water bottle, gloves, and a good set of pruners if you have them! We will supply extra tools and water.
Though rain won't affect the indoor classes, we will be harvesting rain or shine! Bringing rain gear isn't a bad idea. If the schedule changes at all, we will send out email updates accordingly.
