
Craft as Container with Amanda Lee Lazorchack
Class Description: Craft as Container is a conversational exploration of the value of craft as a learning tool paired with a hand broom workshop! Hosted in the iconic Berea College Broom Studio, we will explore the educational landscape of craft as a container for deep learning and bind a hand broom together. Beginners welcome! All tools & materials provided. Including: Dyed & un-dyed fiber & a variety of colored cord. To take part in the broom workshop full faculty use of arms and legs, as well as hand strength is necessary.
Instructor Bio: Amanda Lee Lazorchack is an artist and educator. Her work explores placemaking and belonging. Using the forms of brooms and baskets, vernacular tools of domesticity, as a container to explore the relationship between labor and leisure, dignity and utility. She farms Willow as a regenerative weaving material on her land in SE Appalachia. Lazorchack teaches and demonstrates craft internationally and is the Director of Broom Craft at Berea College.
